The Island Patio Waterfalls

A water garden design in Scotland which sets the example of how to transform a small lifeless space into an immersive garden full of interest and features. In this limited space we've managed to combine a triple tiered natural stone wall, disappearing stream, circular mosaic patio, two arched stone paths and a feature planted rockery.

Notice how the water feature here is one of our new disappearing streams. It has all of the sight and sound provided by moving white water and still attracts wildlife, however it has one major design difference, there is no pond. The disappearing stream option has provided the ideal solution to the limited space available and the clients wishes for a minimal maintenance feature.

The bespoke circular mosaic patio was designed to feel like an island whilst watching the water feature and relaxing on it. We've done this by surrounding the edges of the patio with feature rocks full of character and a planting scheme which provides the backdrop to feel enclosed whilst also enjoying the scent provided by waves of Lavender and trailing Rosemary

Building the height

When transforming this space we had to  create the structures necessary to provide the height for a disappearing stream on a previously flat piece of land.

To do this we've built a triple tiered natural stone wall which rises up to three feet. Its a great stone to use, blending seamlessly with the water feature and the surrounding plants contrast and soften the stone so well.
